Woodward Part 1

Week 1

Just finished up working week 1 at Woodward which is located in the middle of Pennsylvania.  The neighbors are Amish and the next stop light is about ten miles down the road but it's surrounded by the Appalachian mountains which makes for a nice view.  The camp has several programs including skateboarding, bmx, inline, gymnastics, cheer leading, skiing, snowboarding, filming, photography, and music production (which is new this summer).  To check out the camp, go to www.campwoodward.com.

My First Time Wakeboarding

Sven doing work around the buoy.

First time skating in shorts, first time board sliding a hot dog on forks.  No big deal.

My lovely place of residence, the loft.

Some real handiwork by maintenance on the loft's exterior door.
Please note the plastic bottle, rubber tube, and seemingly useless wooden plank.

There were six leaks next to my head/bed my last night while it thunder stormed.  Good times.

Did I mention they have horses?

Scottie (Butterscotch)!  The horse I rode.

Andrew killin the 13 foot vert ramp.

Convinced Clay (age 14) to try this gap.  So sick.

TJ

The not-so-mini "mini mega" with an 18 foot quarter pipe.  Deck and skatelite have yet to be installed but Larry went down the roll in anyways despite the buckling ply wood--ridiculous.

Zack and Laura's Wedding

For those of you who don't know, Cooperstown, NY is widely known for being home to the baseball hall of fame.  My cousin Zack had his wedding in Cooperstown on May 14th and it was an awesome wedding (as well as my first)!  The (roughly) 250 guests stayed in the Otesaga hotel where the majority of the festivities took place.  The hotel was located on a lake and is, coincidently, where Coach LaNoir apparently goes for some field hockey meetings.  The lake was beautiful--so beautiful that Zack, Laura, and some groomsmen went for a polar bear swim in it around 3am after the wedding after party.  Down the street was The Fenimore Art Museum and The Farmers' Museum which had a chapel where the the actual wedding was.  It was great getting to meet some family from each side.

I got to talking with my Uncle Chris from PA who hadn't seen me in 10 years.  He is a hard working man who, I believe, is now a truck driver.  He recently got married to a woman named Angie but didn't tell anyone about her until after their wedding.  I still haven't met her.  Anyways, he commented on how tall I had gotten and how nice my skin complexion was.  He didn't seem to have changed much aside from his hair turning white.  A few minutes into the conversation he began to tell me that I had to come down to his place in Rehobeth, DE this summer.  "Oh wow!  I didn't know you guys had a beach house!" I said.

"Oh we don't--we have a trailer in the trailer park two miles from the beach!  You can walk to the beach from our trailer!  Hey why don't you coordinate with Ashlea and Lierin some time and come on down one weekend."

I nodded saying, "Yeah I'll have to do that sometime."

"Hey you know what?  Even if they're not there, you can come on down and hang out with me and Angie!"

"Yeah... sounds like fun!"

"You know what?  Even if we're not there you can just come on down--the key sits on top of the door to the trailer--and bring some friends and hang out.  You're a smart girl so I'm sure you can figure out how to turn the water and electricity on."

"So do you guys have a boat or something down there?"

"Well we had a boat but I put it in the water last year without the drain plug in so the motor doesn't work anymore but I'm workin on fixin it," he said.

"Oh I'm sorry to hear that."
